An alternative method for reconstruction of large intranasal lining defects: the Farina method revisited.

چکیده
OBJECTIVE To examine use of the paramedian forehead flap for intranasal lining. METHODS The medical records and photographs were reviewed for patients who underwent a nasal reconstruction involving a paramedian forehead flap used for internal lining. RESULTS Three patients underwent this procedure. In all patients, the flap provided excellent intranasal lining. External incisions were acceptable in all the patients. CONCLUSIONS The paramedian forehead flap may be used for internal lining of large intranasal defects. An external rhinoplasty approach facilitates reconstruction.

Interpolated subcutaneous fat pedicle melolabial flap for large nasal lining defects.
Full-thickness nasal deformities are a reconstructive challenge. Restoration of a reliable internal lining is critical for a successful reconstruction. Septal hinge flaps are the workhorse for internal lining defects. However, these and other intranasal mucosal flaps are sometimes unavailable due to prior harvest or previous oncologic resection. We present the two-stage interpolated subcutaneou...
متن کاملPalate Mucoperosteum: An Usefull Adjunct in Buccal Mucosa Reconstruction
Background: Palate is a complex structure separating oro- and nasopharynx. However, reconstruction of the defects of palate is much simpler because of the versatile mucoperiosteal flaps. Here, we present our experience of palatal mucoperiosteal flap used in different situations. Methods: Fifteen patients of palatal as well as buccal mucosa defects were reconstructed using either free or pedicl...
متن کاملReconstructionof Human Mandibular Continuity Defects with Allogenic Scaffold and Autologousmarrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells
Background Mandibular continuity defects occur after tumor resection, maxillofacial injury, or osteomyelitis. Despite the current availability of a plethora of treatment modalities, bone substitutes, and various clinical adjuncts, an exact reconstructive recapitulation of large bony defects continues to be beyond reach. In this clinical pilot study, we report a novel method for reconstruction ...
متن کاملImplant-Based Prosthetic Reconstruction in Patients with Congenital Ear Defects (Technical Note)
Background and aims: Loss of all or part of the ear is one of the significant defects in the head and neck area (regardless of the cause) that can result from trauma, cancer, congenital diseases, or surgery to remove benign tumors. These defects can be reconstructed with the help of surgical procedures or cosmetic prostheses. However, due to the complex structure of the ear, reconstructive surg...
متن کاملFacial Artery Musculomucosal (FAMM) flap for nasal lining in reconstruction of large full thickness lateral nasal defects
Obviously, restoring the nasal lining is a great challenge in the reconstruction of nasal defects. Full thickness nasal defects usually require special flaps for reconstructing the nasal lining. Intranasal mucosal flaps, hinge over flaps, perinasal second flaps, folded or second forehead flaps and finally free flaps are examples that can be used for this purpose. Moreover, the case presented in...
